ST. IVES SEA TRIPS

Client project

St Ives Sea Trips was a new local boat business offering wildlife trips, sea safaris, guided tours, fishing and private hire from St Ives Harbour aboard the 12-passenger Little Mermaid.

THE PROBLEM

There was nothing to start with.

No branding. No website. No social media presence. No online booking journey. No digital marketing.

The business had the boat and the trips — it needed a complete online presence built from the ground up.

WHAT I DID

I created and managed the business's marketing presence from scratch, building the foundations across branding, website, SEO, content, social media and bookings.

BRAND & POSITIONING

Created St Ives Sea Trips as the customer-facing brand and developed the messaging and marketing around the trips and experiences on offer.

Real businesses. Real problems. Real Fixes.

Projects

WEBSITE & BOOKING
Built the website and created a clear customer journey from discovering the business through to booking, including integration with Bookeo.

SEO & SEARCH
Built the website around relevant search terms and created content designed to help potential customers find the business through search.
I worked on the site's SEO structure, page content, metadata, indexing and ongoing search visibility.

SOCIAL & CONTENT
Created the business's social media presence and produced content across photography, video, posts and promotional material.

MARKETING
The work extended beyond the website and social media.
I created promotional materials including signage, printed marketing, QR codes and merchandise, and used Google Ads where appropriate.
The aim was to create one joined-up marketing presence, rather than a website, social media and advertising all doing their own thing.

THE RESULT
The website went on to rank:
#2 — “sea trips”
#7 — “boat trip St Ives”
#7 — “St Ives Seal Island”
The business went from having no digital presence at all to having a complete online customer journey — from being found, to understanding what was on offer, to making a booking.

WHAT THIS PROJECT SHOWS

Strategy — building the right foundations from scratch
Website — creating the online home and customer journey
SEO — building visibility around relevant searches
Content — creating useful marketing assets across channels
Digital marketing — connecting the different pieces into one system

Boathouse Beauty

A Business I built.

Beauty business & Customer experience.

Boathouse Beauty was my own beauty business, I was a self-employed beautician and nail technician.

It gave me first-hand experience of what it actually takes to run a small service based business — not just the work customers see, but everything that has to happen around it.

THE PROBLEM

I wasn't just providing a service. I was running the business.

That meant attracting customers, building a recognisable business, communicating what I offered, managing the customer experience and keeping everything moving alongside the actual work.

There was no separate marketing department, no web team and no one else to figure it out.

It was all me.

WHAT I DID
I built and managed the business around the services I provided, learning what worked through actually being responsible for the whole customer journey.

THE BRAND
Created and developed the Boathouse Beauty identity and the customer-facing experience around the business.

THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Managed the journey from someone discovering the business through to becoming a customer — making sure the service, communication and experience all worked together.

MARKETING
Promoted the business and its services, creating the content and marketing needed to attract and retain customers.

RUNNING THE BUSINESS
Handled the reality of running a small service business alongside delivering the work itself — managing customers, bookings, communication, promotion and the day-to-day operation.

WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
Running my own business taught me something you can't learn from a marketing textbook:
Small businesses don't have endless time, money or people.
Every part of their online presence has to earn its place.
That's a big part of how I approach Salty Chapter today.
I'm not interested in telling a small business to do more just because they could.
I want to work out what will actually help.
